The Chairman for Roads and Transport Committee in Parliament who doubles as Member of Parliament for Ayensuano Constituency,Samuel Aye Paye has said, the Tema motorway roundabount project is about fifty two percent (52%) completed.

Mr. Ayeh Paye indicated that, the committee on oads and transport yesterday paid a visit to the two major road projects that is currently happenings in the Greater Accra region, which includes Tema Motorway roundabout and Pokuase multi Interchange road.

Speaking to Oman Fm Parliamentary correspondent Nana Ampofo Ayeh, he explained that, government of Ghana, under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had a grant from the Japanese government to carry out such a unique multi-purpose roundabout at Tema to reduce the heavy traffic situation which usually happens at the four entry points which includes Akosombo, Aflao, Tema township and Accra route for easy traffic flow.

The Chairman further explained, the committee also visited the project going on at Pokuase, which is a multi purpose Interchange and added that, the interchange is unique and first of it’s kind in a whole of Africa, and it is going to solve the traffic situation between Ofankor, John Teye, Pokuase and other places.

He explained that, government of Ghana assessed a loan facility from Africa Development Bank (ADB) to carry out that road project.

He said, the purpose for this interchange is to reduce heavy traffic between Pokuase – Awoshie and Nsawam – Accra with one at the middle which will be used as a safe point for turning from one route to the other without causing any traffic to other vehicles.

He applauded the contractor on the project for a good work done so far, especially on the arrangement put in place for free flow of traffic and a safety footpath for pedestrians as work goes on.
