The Public Relations Officer of Government’s One District One Factory Secretariat, Kwaku Gyasi says the ingenuity of the Akufo-Addo led government in pursuing the establishment of a factory in every district of the country is being vindicated with the role the factories are playing in the nations fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Mr Gyasi, Ghana as it stands now is having to depend largely on local industries for very essential resources such as Personal Protective Equipment’s (PPEs), ventilators, medicines and other consumables necessary to fight the spread of the virus, as well as in managing cases.

He adds that with the importation of food supplies being affected by the pandemic, 1D1F factories are playing a vital role of producing food products which otherwise would have been in short supply.

“The COVID-19 situation is not the one we want for our country, but if there is one thing we have to learn, it is how president Akufo-Addo’s vision of 1D1F is paying off. Due to this pandemic imports have been greatly affected but as we can see every 1D1F factory is one way or another producing something the nation requires in these times, whether it is a food product or a PPE. This shows a Ghana that is working towards dependence on local industries under a good leadership. The vision of 1D1F has never been more clear.” He emphasised.

Kwaku Gyasi Made this statement when the 1D1F Secretariat received donations from Koko King and Lan T SoyMilk Company (a 1D1F project) in the form of relief items to the Ministry of Information, Ministry of Gender and the Ghana Ambulance Service, to support the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and its related effects.

The relief items which were delivered to the recipient institutions on Thursday, April 16, 2020 amounted to GHC20,000.

While acknowledging the two companies, Mr Gyasi particularly lauded Lan T SoyMilk whose donation came in 10,000 pieces of nose masks and 3,300 pieces of Lan T products for their gesture.

He also expressed gratitude to Koko King whose donation came in the form of breakfast packs to feed 4,000 persons.

While underscoring the significance of local industries towards national growth, Kwaku Gyasi expressed hope that all 1D1F factories will live up to fully fulfil President Akufo-Addo’s vision of a Ghana highly dominated by local industries.

“President Akufo-Addo’s vision of 1D1F was for moments like this and we hope that post COVID-19 this noble policy will go on to achieve its main aim of creating a very local industry.” He expressed.
