A special Christian prayer meeting to seek the Lord’s intervention for the nation in curtailing the current out break of the coronavirus disease in Ghana,has been held at the Jubilee House on Thursday.

The prayer meeting which involved the nation’s top clergy of the Christian faith in the country, saw in attendance the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, who expressed his appreciation to the Christian community in Ghana for their intercessory prayers a in times like this as the nation recorded its 9th case.

President Akufo-Addo also paid tribute to the Moslem community in Ghana for their prayers for the same cause and used the occasion to rally the nation to support ongoing measures with prayers and expressed his optimism that this phenomenon shall pass.


The prayer session of the meeting saw the nation’s top clergymen say special prayers for the country. They included the Archbishop of the Accra diocese of the Catholic church, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, who prayed against the spread of the virus, Right Rev JOY Mantey, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian church of Ghana, who prayed for frontline health workers, and Apostle Eric Nyamekye of the Pentecost church of Ghana for victims and affected persons.

Archbishop Duncan Williams of the Action Faith Gospel church also intercessed for the govt. Rev Dr Samuel Asante Antwi said a prayer for the president of the Republic, Dr Joyce Aryee prayed for the country, Rev Eastwood Anaba saying a word of prayer the world.

The outbreak of the viral phenomenon has affected over 200,000 persons with about 80,000 recoveries so far.
