First Lady of the Republic, H.E. Mrs. Rebecca Naa Okaikor Akufo-Addo has urged the electorate in the Central Region to go out in their numbers on December 7, to vote for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP Parliamentary Candidates, to ensure continuation of the NPP’s progressive policies, when she toured parts of the Central region.

Accompanied by the NPP MP for Awutu Senya West and Deputy Minister for Communications Hon. Nenyi George Andah, MP for Gomoa East Hon. Kojo Asemanyi, DCE for Gomoa East Hon. Solomon Darko Quarm, and former NDC Constituency Chairman for Awutu Senya West Simon Duodu, the First Lady first met with Queen mothers and widows in Awutu Senya West at the residence of the Paramount Queen mother of Awutu Naakye Dode Akabi, where she detailed the positive impact of the President’s policies on the lives of Ghanaians and asked for their support for the President and the NPP in the December elections.

At a durbar at Senya, where she was enstooled as the Development Queenmother with the title of Naase Okaikor I, the First Lady, said the administration of President Akufo-Addo has implemented many policies, which have greatly benefited women. “The Free SHS is providing relief to mothers and widows who in the past had to sell their properties and even wealth bequeathed to them by their deceased spouses just to send their children to school. NABCO, 1 District 1 Factory (1D1F), and the resumption of recruitment into the private sector including health and education has created employment for the youth who are now able to support their parents and the strengthening of the NHIS and free maternal care has also contributed to a reduction in maternal mortality”.

Additionally, the First lady said the Awutu Senya Health Centre has been up-graded to a Polyclinic, with a Resident Doctor and Doctors Quarters, the Bawdjiase Market is being paved and beneficiaries of School Feeding programme have been increased from six (6) to Fifty-six (56) schools.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo also commissioned the Naase Okaikor (I) Community Library and Music Studio by the Hon. George Andah which is stocked with diverse reading materials and fitted with modern music studio equipment to afford the youth in the constituency an ambient environment to study and the opportunity to discover their innate talents in the world of music. Mrs Akufo-Addo donated books on behalf of the Rebecca Foundation to the library.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo next paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Budumburam, Nana Kojo Essel and his elders at his palace, where she extended the President’s warmest regards, thanked the Chief and his elders for all the support extended to the administration of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP government in their first term in office and sought their permission to interact with residents of their traditional area.

She said the President has the interest of the Central Region at heart and following their massive support for the NPP in the 2016 elections, has since assuming office, been working hard to ensure that all his promises to the region and Ghanaians as a whole are fulfilled.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo also visited the Budumburam and Nyanyanor Kakraba Markets to interact with traders, where she said the Akufo-Addo led NPP government since assuming office has fulfilled over 80% of its promises and can be trusted to accomplish all the promises made in 2016 and also promises contained in the 2020 manifesto.

She said the ability to successfully roll out the Free SHS policy with free meals for all students, the payment of nursing and teacher trainee allowance, the roll -out of NABCO, recruitment into the public sector, reduction of electricity tariffs, free water and infrastructure projects, in under four years, while still maintaining a robust economy despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, can only be achieved by a hard-working and competent leader who has the country at heart.

She urged the traders to vote for President Akufo-Addo and the NPP Parliamentary Candidates to ensure the continuation of transforming Ghana.
