The Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation has donated COVID-19 Relief items to the Ghana wheelchair Basketball Federation (GWBF).

The items which were donated to the federation on behalf of the First Lady Mrs Rebecca Akuffo Addo by Mrs Akosua Newman the Director of operation , Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation includes
Bags of Rice , Face masks , boxes of sanitizers, Boxes of wheats, Boxes of Nido , boxes of Milk shakes, boxes of chocolate spread and bags of detergents.

In her short speech before handing over the items to the leadership of the federation in the person of Lion Wilson Agbesi the Secretary General and Mr Max Varden the President, Mrs Newman reveal that the first lady considered it a great responsibility as the mother of the land when she received a formal request from the federation in form of relief for the wheelchair Basketball Athletes, she explain further that Mrs Rebecca Akuffo is one person who love persons with disability so much and also have passion for them and all time ready to assist them when ever the need arise.

It is in view of this that within 48 hours she has responded to the urgent request of the federation.

On receiving the items the President of the federation Mr Max Varden express his appreciation, that of the Executives Board and the entire playing body of the federation to the Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation and the First Lady for her good gesture, he acknowledged that the intervention has come at the right time as the federation will make good use of the items for the purpose it has been donated for and believe it will go a long way to support Athletes in this COVID-19 era.

The outspoken Secretary General of the GWBF Lion Wilson Agbesi , who is popularly refer to in the Sports fraternity as ‘ LION ‘ use the opportunity to RAP the Rebecca Akuffo Addo Foundation and the First Lady with am aim of securing future supports for the federation as much as the First Lady is concern and below is what he said in expressing his gratitude to the First Lady.

‘‘To be very honest , I must say here that I am really surprise and just don’t know what to say , well this is amazing the mother of the land has spoken and we do appreciate it a lot , this is amazing and one the best things I have encounter this year, within 48 hours the mother of the land has listen to our cry and urgently come to our aid , the love is deep ! It is indeed deep.

‘‘Madam Director of operations kindly informed Mama Rebecca that we have accepted her lovely gift from our heart and we pray for good health , long live and more wisdom for her in all the days of her life and it is our hope , prayer and believe that she will adopt the federation as her own child and continue to support the Federation any thing the need arises’’.

Mrs Newman concluded by assuring the federation of the Foundations support to the federation where and when the need arise and call on the leadership and the entire playing body to always adhere to the protocols put in place in fighting the COVID-19 Pandemic to enable us as a nation to defeat this invisible enemy.

Lion Wilson Agbesi use to opportunity to appeal to other cooperate bodies, organizations , celebrities, churches , philanthropist and individuals to come on board to support the Federation with any form of relief items at this critical moment this pandemic and also restated the federations commitment of adhering to all the lay down protocols .
