The Ghana Diaspora Celebration and homecoming summit have launched the 2019 global media in Accra on April 30, 2019. The launch was under the theme “Recognising Diaspora Contributions towards Nation Building.

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has charged the office of the Diaspora Affairs to speed up work on the Diaspora aimed at targeting more Ghanaians living abroad. He said, the policy once introduced, will attract and encourage Ghanaians in the Diaspora to bring their technical skills, money and investment opportunities back home to spur growth and development.

Mr Kojo Oppong Nkrumah praised the immense contributions of the diaspora community to Ghana’s growth and said the Akufo- Addo government acknowledges the role they can play in helping to stimulates the development agenda.

“The potential value of the diaspora community to the local economy in immeasurable and helps the Presidents Ghana Beyond Aids vision”. In a speech by the Director of Diaspora affairs Akwasi Awua Ababio, mentioned that this years program will highlight the recognized diaspora contributions towards nation building whiles delivering convincing advocacy for a policy of system to facilitate the unleashing of the significant contributions from the Ghanaian diaspora. He also mentioned that there will be diaspora engagement from time with several checks to engage those in the diaspora.

The Ghanaian Diaspora Celebration of Home Coming Summit 2019 is a 4-day event recognizing and celebrating the immerse contributions to nation building by the Ghanaian Diaspora. The event will not highlight past contributions but will focus on present contributions as well, whiles furthering the advocacy for political, economic and all other systems of policies that would facilitate future contributions by the Ghanaian Diaspora.
