Currently Parliament is in the process of passing the Tree Crop Development Authority Bill, 2019 which seek to certify and licence some exportable selected tree crops farmers in the country to ensure good farming practices and application of inputs.

These crops are namely, Mango, Oil palm, rubber, Cashew and Shea.

The bill will also give an opportunity for farmers to benefit from all incentives and those who fail to register will not derive any benefit.

Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu said the bill is important to help grow and regularise the tree crop industry.

Meanwhile the Member of for Evalue -Ejura, Catherine Ablema Afeku called for addition of coconut into the bill because of its enormous benefits.
