The Wenchi Traditional Council of the Bono region, has endorsed President Akufo-Addo’s bid for a second term.

According to the Traditional Council, President Akufo-Addo has brought to the area and Ghana at large a number of laudable development projects and special initiatives and therefore needs to be given a second term. 

Nana Damoa Koasane Kofabai, the Akyeamehene for Wenchi Traditional Council speaking on behalf of the chiefs at Wenchi at a sod cutting ceremony for the construction of Wenchi water project said, the performance of President Akufo-Addo is unprecedented in this 4th republic and therefore giving him four extra years will enable him to give out all the best in him.

The traditional leaders expressed the conviction that it was under the President Akufo-Addo’s led administration that the Municipality has enjoyed infrastructural development and other social interventions such as Planting for food and jobs, one district one factory, one village-one dam, free water, free electricity, free education among others.              

According to the chief, developments in the second term of the President Akufo-Addo will surpass the first one given some of the things in the NPP manifesto.

President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on his part thanked the chiefs and people of Wenchi for the confidence repose in him and reiterated his government’s commitment to deliver on its manifesto pledges to the electorate.

He stated that government, in recognition of water situation in Wenchi, as well as the result of population growth decided to provide a befitting Water Supply System to ensure the supply of reliable potable water to meet the water demands of Wenchi and its environs.

Nana Addo disclosed that government, in response to the rising demand for water, is currently undertaking a significant number of water projects across the country.

Those underway he said, included the Wenchi Water Supply, Techiman Water Supply Project in the Bono East Region; Sunyani Water Supply Project in the Bono Region, Assin Fosu Water Supply Project in the Central Region, Greater Kumasi Metropolitan Area Water Supply Project in the Ashanti Region; Kpong Phase II in the Eastern Region; and the Tarkwa Water Supply Project in the Western Region.

The rest are the Sekondi Takoradi Water Supply Project in the Western Region and Keta Water Supply Project in the Volta Region.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and his entourage are on two days working visit to the Bono region to interact with the people, inspect ongoing projects, sod cutting as well as commissioning of other projects.
